9/21/2016 – West Nile Virus

Cochise County, AZ

Confirmed Case(s): No Quarantine

A horse in Cochise County has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), marking the first detection of the disease in Arizona for the 2016 season. The affected horse is a 4-year old Quarter Horse gelding with no history of vaccination for WNV. The horse exhibited advancing medical signs and was euthanized.
